Top 3 innovative design trends

Design trends are constantly changing. As a result, designers face challenges trying to learn and implement innovative trends. One of the most innovative companies in 21 century – Google is an excellent example of a company that embraces new directions while staying focused on the future.

Trends are also dictated by the circumstances and problems that people face in the present time. Environmental issues, the concept of circular economy, sustainability, and smart technologies are concepts widely represented in modern innovative design. Design trends always need to reflect the needs of the customers.

Here are three innovative design trends that are likely to become leading trends in the coming years:

1. Sustainable design

Through tireless experimentation, Adidas develops new sneaker technologies that combine performance, sustainability, and bold, modern aesthetics. For example, Adidas updated the design of their Loop model of sneakers made in a sustainable, innovative way.

In the Netherlands, the world’s longest solar bicycle path, measuring 330 meters, has opened to traffic. The design of this trail combines sustainability and innovation. It is called “the road to the future” because the goal of the invention is emission-free travel. Producing solar energy in innovative ways by promoting a healthy and active life brings many benefits to the environment and people. For example, solar bike lanes in the Netherlands exceeded expectations early – generating more than 3,000 kW of energy, enough for one household per year.

The Netherlands is also known for its bike path lit by solar LED lights, which at night is reminiscent of the famous Van Gogh painting – Starry Night. Similar solar courses are found on the highways in South Korea. The energy generated from these tracks is used to illuminate the street and charge electric cars.

2. 3D design

The 3D design is not revolutionary in the world of web design. On the contrary, it has fascinated Internet users for years. However, as augmented and virtual reality became more prevalent in 2021, the trend of hyper-realistic 3D designs will undoubtedly continue in the future. This trend helps designers and brands encourage their clients to spend more time on the site and potentially convert to their clients. On the other hand, the 3D design offers website visitors a unique experience, combining reality and the digital world.

3D printed products are increasingly occupying a high place on the list of innovative designs. With the help of smart design technology and artificial intelligence, it is easier than ever to design and print a 3D product. Shapr3D revolutionizes the classic CAD programs, offering an intuitive app for design and prototyping.

3. Design powered by Artificial Intelligence

AeroFarms builds research and development farms as leading centers of excellence. The farms specialize in merging horticulture, engineering, and data science to advance science and knowledge. The company has grown over 550 plants, using the latest sensor technologies, data science, and artificial intelligence. The design of vertical gardens depends on the area in which they are located and is considered a solution that tackles the lack of greenery in modern cities.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, most businesses closed their doors, including fitness centers. Tempo launched a home fitness station powered by AI. The product gives users a functional and aesthetically pleasing fitness center and trainer at home.

Many innovative startups and companies are oriented towards these design trends. The sustainability and functionality of the designs are timeless qualities that will be the hallmark of innovative products in the next decade.
